Hamilton Community Cleanup: Recognizing Graffiti & Litter as a Community Problem

Recognize graffiti and litter as a community problem—Hamilton community cleanup thrives when we all get involved. Tackling graffiti and litter isn’t just the job of our friends at the City of Hamilton; it’s a mission for everyone who cares about neighbourhood pride and city beautification. When we address these challenges together, from Barton Village to Dundas, Stoney Creek, up the Mountain to Mount Hope, we build a stronger Hamilton.

Hamilton’s best moments happen when neighbours support neighbours. As local residents, we know the Hamilton Tiger-Cats can’t win next year’s Grey Cup with just one star player! (And congrats to the Saskatchewan Roughriders on their recent win—proof that teamwork pays off!) It takes a team for the Grey Cup, and, for graffiti and litter, we can be that team.

Graffiti removal in Hamilton and regular litter pickup keep our parks cleaner and sidewalks safer.

When we work together, we create cleaner parks, safer sidewalks, and an even better city that we call home. Everyone has a role to play, whether it’s picking up litter on your block, helping with a graffiti removal day, or simply encouraging a neighbour.

If you want to help with an upcoming Hamilton community cleanup day, feel free to reach out. Community involvement builds success—let’s raise our neighbourhood pride, one block at a time.

Hammer Street Clean recognizes that Hamilton are located on the traditional territories of the Erie, Neutral, Huron-Wendat, Haudenosaunee, and Mississaugas peoples.
The history of this land is shaped by agreements like the Dish With One Spoon Wampum Belt Covenant, created to foster sharing and stewardship of the Great Lakes region among Indigenous nations. Hamilton’s roots also connect to the Between the Lakes Purchase of 1792, a treaty involving the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the British Crown.
Today, Hamilton is home to Indigenous peoples from many nations. We honour their enduring contributions and commit to caring for this land together as neighbours and community members.
